"Sisters" - Installed July 2007

My current project is a 2' x 3' mosaic to be hung on a wall in the front yard of a residence. The design was to be of the three daughters outdoors, so I drew them doing what they were doing when I first met them - collecting flowers and rolie polies! It will be done in stained glass on mesh and then adhered to cement board with thinset. I will then screw the cement board on their wall so that if they ever happen to move, they can easily take it with them.

This is Leah and boy was it tricky to get those teeny pieces! Her head is only 2 inches tall in the design.
Samantha had even smaller pieces, if that is possible! She wanted to be in a black shirt, which I think will be a good choice next to the green grass!

I designed the clothing of the girls from their actual clothing but from three different photos of them so now they're color coordinated! Yipee, I get to work on the trees and flowers next!
This tree and all the flowers in the design are plants from the family's yard where the mosaic will be hung.
Finished!
